Australia's poultry consumption forecast to increase
Australia's annual per capital poultry meat consumption is forecast to increase more than one kg per year to 40.5 kg by 2012-13.
Annual domestic production of poultry meat will increase by 9 percent to 940,000 tonnes in 2007-2008, according to a forecast by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE).
Retail poultry prices in 2009 are likely to be at AU$5.36 per kg, said the ABARE outlook report.
ABARE also expects poultry prices to be down by 8 percent in mid-year, as a rise in productivity and lower grain prices increase the competitiveness of poultry meat.
