Moldova stops wheat exports
Due to most of Moldova's winter crops had been damaged by severe frosts, the country is halting its wheat exports according to Moldova's Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vasiliy Bumakov.
"As one-third of winter crops were damaged by severe frosts, export shipments will be stopped," Bumakov said.
At the same time, according to Bumakov, the reserves accumulated in the past years will allow Moldova to meet its domestic needs for wheat until September 2012. He added that Moldova will have to resort to "the importation of wheat flour to provide the country's bakeries with raw material."
