Russia exports almost 990,000 tonnes wheat
Russia exported 989,600 tonnes of wheat and meslin worth US$246.4 million in January of this year, reported the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Customs Service also reported that imports of barley in January increased to the level of 45,800 tonnes (US$16.7 million), against 20,400 tonnes (US$6.5 million) in January last year. Besides, in January Russia imported 5,300 tonnes (US$15.4 million) of corn, against 3,300 tonnes (at US$4.8 million). Imports of wheat and meslin totalled 1,300 tonnes (US$0.3 million). In January last year, Russia did not import wheat at all.
Generally, in January 2012 Russia imported grains at the sum of US$41.8 million, up almost 2.5 times compared to January last year (US$17.2 million).
