Australia Portland's port resumes grain export
Victoria's Port of Portland exported its first shipment of grain in more than two and a half years last Friday (Mar 5).
Grain has been missing from the port's export list because of poor seasons. But last week, a ship filled with rapeseed sets off for Pakistan.
AWB oilseed and pulse commodity manager Francois Darcas said the rapeseed comes from the Wimmera, Western District and south-east South Australia.
"Victoria has not exported rapeseed for many years due to repeated droughts and a smaller crop, so hopefully this is the first of many more if we return to more normal rainfall."
