Norway's seafood export value breaks new record
The value of Norwegian seafood exports jumped by around NOK 1 billion (US$161.5 million) in the first two months of the year, a 20-percent increase over the previous year.
Norway's export agency (Eksportutvalget for fish, EFF) said sales hit a new record for February, and for the two-month period combined. EFF reported seafood exports valued at NOK 6.2 billion (US$1 billion), with February exports accounting for NOK 3.2 billion (US$516.6 million). The February figure was up by NOK 506 million (US$81.7 million) from the year before.
Russia was the largest single export market for Norwegian seafood, accounting for 10 percent of shipments during those two months.
