Slack demand, increased supply soften China methionine market

Prices of methionine continued to fall during the week ending March 6.

Feed millers remained cautious in making purchases while feed consumption is poised to be slow due to the shrink in inventories during January and February. Moreover, livestock prices reduced of late, dampening farmers confidence to expand inventories. Hence, methionine suppliers continued to reduce prices while supplies increased.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine reduced to the range of RMB29.30-29.80/kg.

Methionine market will be weak as livestock prices trend lower.
