Thai pig farmers threatens supply cut if price decline continues

Thai pig farmers have threatened to freeze supply if the Commerce Ministry's retail pork price cuts force ex-farm prices to fall below the current THB60 a kilogramme, the Bangkok Post reported Friday, quoting the Swine Raisers Association president.

The report quoted Surachai Sutthitham as saying raisers could no longer shoulder production costs - particularly those of animal feed such as maize, rice bran and soymeal - which have risen by up to 50 percent.
