EU extends Private Storage Aid for hogs to three months
The European pig management committee has approved a proposal to extend Private Storage Aid (PSA) for pigs to three months.
The decision was made in a bid to help pig producers who faces increasingly difficult times due to rising feed costs.
The release of the aid could take place in May or June 2008 and continue until July 2008.
Meanwhile, prices for pig carcasses have remained stable at about EUR132 per 100 kg.
Despite the good news, the committee has decided to leave the rates for export refunds intact.
