Malaysia to legalise 931 fish and prawn producers in Perak
A 30-year land lease will be given to some 931 farmers in new villages in order to legalise prawn and fish producers in Perak.
The Malaysian government had been accused of not doing anything for farmers who were cultivating illegally on state land, according to Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali.
The farmers will be legalised through land leasing, which includes industrial plots that had difficulties in being converted to industrial status, he added.
The 30-year land lease will enable the farmers to continue their farming while allowing them to invest money into their business, said Tajol Rosli.
The land leasing offer letters were presented to the farmers by Malaysian prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
