PASCO to export further 0.3 million metric tons of wheat
The government of Pakistan has allowed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASCO) to export an additional 0.3 million metric tonnes of wheat to extend the target to 0.8 million metric tonnes from the existing 0.5 million metric tonnes.
PASCO presently holds 1.3 million metric tonnes of wheat stocks of which the export of 0.3 million metric tonnes and holding the safe reserves of the remaining 1 million metric tonnes have been permitted.
The officials told that the wheat production target set by the government for the current season at 22.5 million metric tonnes would be achieved and a surplus of 1.5 million metric tonnes of wheat stock was expected.
PASCO, in this backdrop, had sought permission to export further 0.5 million metric tonnes, however, it has been allowed to only export 0.3 million metric tonnes.
