Russia's grain reserves plummet
Russia's grain reserves lost 0.9 per cent year-on-year to 27.8 million tonnes in January, the data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) shows.
In the same period last year, reserves stood at 28.1 million tonnes.
Agricultural organisations had reserves of 16.1 million tonnes as of February 1, registering a decline by 500,000 tonnes.
Preparatory and processing organisations had reserves of 11.7 million tonnes or 1.7 per cent less than in the same period the year before.
However, last year the harvest was 0.2 million tonnes higher at 78.2 million tonnes compared to 2005.
