China sulphate additives market under pressure

Cupric sulphate

Trade improved during late February as feed millers resumed production after the Chinese New Year celebration.

Demand for cupric sulphate is unlikely to increase as hog inventories stay low. However, producers will uphold prices to sustain profits amid rising costs.

Zinc sulphate

Trade was light in the zinc sulphate market as livestock prices continued to fall, hence exerting pressure on the market.
Ex-factory price quotes for zinc sulphate by major producers were lower in the range of RMB4,000-4,300/tonne.
Demand for cupric sulphate is unlikely to increase as hog inventories stay low.

Manganese sulphate

Manganese sulphate prices were therefore soft even though producers attempted to stand firm amid high output costs.
Production of manganese sulphate has reduced of late due to environmental issues. This will lend support to the market despite sluggish demand.

Ferrous sulphate

Demand was limited while supply increased of late, weighing on ferrous sulphate market as a result.
Prices are expected to be soft for ferrous sulphate as feed and livestock producers limit purchases with the outlook of livestock market bleak.

RMB1=US$0.1636 (Mar 6)
