Mongolia still waiting for dairy cow imports from China
Mongolian Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has refuted a China Daily report on March 3 that Mongolia has resumed imports of dairy cows from China, which it suspended for about two months after an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
The ministry said the information was incorrect as Mongolia first has to announce bidding between Mongolian companies whenever it intends to buy dairy cows. As of now, the ministry has not announced any bidding, nor has it prepared the necessary documents.
Last year, the winner of the bidding imported 300 dairy cows from China after the announcement was made. The company initially planned to import 400 dairy cows, but 100 of them were not imported due to the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak.
