Vietnam signs seafood pact with Ukraine

Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development yesterday signed the seafood trade pact with the Ukraine Fisheries Committee.

Agriculture minister, Cao Duc Phat, said that Vietnam not only wanted to strengthen trading in seafood but also to promote activities such as training and technological transfer.

Volkov Vladimir Vasilievich of Ukraine said that companies in the two countries should be able to conduct direct import and export activities and increase the export turnover to US$200 million this year.

In 2007, Vietnam's seafood export turnover reached US$50 million, dominated by catfish products.
