DSM, Novozymes renew alliance

DSM Nutritional Products and Novozymes have announced that they are renewing their strategic alliance.

Since the alliance has been formed in 2001, the two partners launched a number of innovative, market-expanding and promising products over the years.

The DSM/Novozymes alliance is, according to the company, a global market leader in feed enzymes.

Leendert Staal, president of DSM Nutritional Products, said they aim for better animal performance with less feed/better raw material utilisation, reduce environmental phosphates load and contribute to the customers' profitability by lowering the feed formulation costs.

Novozymes emphasized that the alliance of DSM and Novozymes combines world leading competencies and technologies to deliver feed enzyme innovation to the customers.

Peder Holk Nielsen, Novozymes' executive vice president, said that within the next two years, the alliance expects to launch a new enzyme for corn-soy diets, along with other products lined up in the coming years.

The DSM/Novozymes alliance is an exclusive and global agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Novozymes develops and produces enzymes for animal feed whereas DSM markets and sells the enzymes.

The renewed alliance agreement covers the principles of the alliance such as governance structure, supply and distribution of products, intellectual property rights, profit sharing etc. The agreement runs for the next five years.
