Ukraine's feed output in 2012 increases by 4% compared to 2011

Ukraine's feed output has risen by 4% in 2012 on-year, compared 4.97 million tonnes in 2011. However, the figure is 2% lower than forecasts made in November last year.

According to official figures, the volume of feed production in the country fell at the end of the year, particularly during December when the country produced 409.6 thousand tonnes of feed, 2% less than in the previous month. The approximate level of the shadow market, which is not included in the official statics, were 1.3 million tonnes, about 5% higher than 2011.

The figures also confirm that the leaders in feed production in December 2012 were still the Cherkasy and Kyiv regions, which both produced 62-63 thousand tonnes, and the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions each with 40,000-50,000 tonnes.

As of January 1, 2013, the level of feed stocks was 26.2 thousand tonnes. According to preliminary estimations, the level of feed production in Ukraine, including the share of the shadow market, should rise by 5-7% to 6.8 million tonnes during 2013.
