Schaumann introduces new generation of fodder fats
German additive specialist Schaumann has presented Energy Vital, a specialised fodder fat based on fatty acids from palm and linseed oil.
Energy Vital joins Schaumann's product line of rumen-protected fats. The use of fatty acids from linseed oil gives Energy Vital a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids.
The manufacturing procedure ensures that the fatty acids in the product are protected and can be absorbed unchanged in the small intestine. Energy Vital's composition allows it to optimise the energy supply of dairy cows and primarily improves their reproductive performance.
The omega-3 fatty acids stimulate the growth of the corpus luteum, thereby inducing an increased production of the pregnancy hormone progesterone. The formation of prostaglandins is reduced, embedding and nutrition of the embryo are improved, which in turn increases survival rate.
Classic fodder fats improve the energy supply of dairy cows, but Energy Vital improves the pregnancy rate of cows and reduces embryonal mortality, thus creating the potential for a marked increase in the reproductive performance of dairy cattle.
