Japan to inspect Vietnamese seafood products
A Japanese delegation from the Department of Food and Medicines will inspect Vietnamese seafood safety system from March14-19, according to the Vietnam National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (Nafiqad).
The department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said that the delegation will inspect seafood processing factories and fish ports to evaluate chemicals management in seafood in Vietnam.
Japan was the biggest importer of Vietnamese seafood in 2009 with total revenues of US$760.7 million. Currently, Japan allows 472 Vietnamese seafood companies to export seafood to this market.
