More US brands added to Hallmark beef recall
More retail brands in the US were included in the historic beef recall of Hallmark/Westland over the weekend.
Some of the additional products are a lasagna dish from H.J. Heinz Co.'s Boston Market line and selected items from ConAgra's Slim Jim, Pemmican, Hunt's, Banquet and Manwich brands.
General Mills and Nestle also said they were recalling certain items as a check on the source of the ingredients was traced back to Hallmark/Westland plant.
The recent recall, totaling 143 million pounds of beef, is the largest in the US food recall history.
Meanwhile, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations plans to authorize a subpoena for Hallmark/Westland CEO, Steve Mendell.
