PEDv found in fecal samples from pigs in US livestock show

Two fecal samples from pigs at the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show tested positive for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv), said the Department of Agriculture's office in the US state of Georgia.

The virus found on the fecal samples on February 27 is the first confirmed case of PEDv in Georgia, Southeast AgNet reported.

The discovery prompted the Georgia Department of Agriculture to impose bio-security measures in locations where the infected pigs came from, including restrictions on animal movements.

In addition, the department is working with other animal industry partners to provide information on bio-security, disease prevention and control.
