Finland 2007 meat production hits record high, up 4 percent from 2006
 

 

Finland's Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has reported that 2007 meat production peaked at 398,000 tonnes, up 4 percent from 2006, while meat prices also experienced a change.

 

Pork production peaked at 213,000 tonnes, up 2 percent from 2006. Beef production was 88,000 tonnes, up 2 percent from 2006. Poultry production amounted to 95,000 tonnes, up 8 percent from 2006. Chicken accounted for 82,000 tonnes, with production increased by 10 percent.

 

Nominal price of meat had increased, while real prices had dipped 14-26 percent below top prices in the previous decade.

 

Pork's nominal price had dropped by 12 percent compared to 2001, and its real price had also dropped by 18 percent.

 

Beef prices on the other hand, had increased by 4 percent from 2006.

 

Poultry price is also up by 5 percent from 2006. However, it is a drop of 5 percent compared to nominal prices in 2002, and 11-percent down compared to real prices in 2002.
