Swedish dairy farmers join local network to boost output
Dairy farmers in Östergötland, a Swedish county, have joined in a network in a bid to increase the production of milk.
Through seminars, farm visits and field trips the Mjölkvågen network, which includes the Federation of Swedish Farmers (LRF), dairy group Arla, and the county administrative board, hoped to inspire its members to make investments.
The county's production have dropped by 16% in the past four years, but Per Andersson at LRF said that there were indications that production would rise, such as 24 planning applications submitted by milk producers during 2010.
