Tyson plans to expand poultry processing facility

Tyson Foods plans to expand operations in its Arkansas-based poultry processing facility, according to the company's CEO Dick Bond on Thursday.

If the plan gets the nod, Tyson will spend about US$10 million for the addition of deboning operations at the facility. Plans to upgrade and modify equipment to enable the facility to handle bigger birds have already been approved.

The facility carries out its deboning operations elsewhere and to this, Bond said, ""Quite frankly, as a company, we move too much meat around between our facilities."

The expansion would occur over a week in April, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the state's daily newspaper.
