Russia's grain supplies up 8.3% on-year 

 
 

Grain supplies in Russia on February 1 totalled 39.3 million tonnes, 8.3% more than on the same date last year, the Federal State Statistics Service said Monday (Mar 1).

 

Farmers held 21.3 million tonnes on that date, the same as a year ago, while grain storage and processing enterprises held 18 million tonnes, an increase of 20.3% on the year.

 

The grain held by storage and processing enterprises included 12.58 million tonnes of wheat, including 9.65 million tonnes of milling wheat, 2.94 million tonnes of barley, 1.33 million tonnes of rye and 610,000 tonnes of corn.

 

Russia harvested 93 million tonnes of grain in clean weight in 2009, including 58 million tonnes of wheat, compared with 108.1 million tonnes in 2008.
