Cargill opens new aqua research facility in Minnesota

Cargill has announced completion of its new aqua research facility in Elk River, Minnesota, USA.

The environmentally controlled facility features multiple research systems capable of handling a wide range of research objectives. These include feeding trials of either freshwater or saltwater fishes at a range of salinities and temperatures.

Tilapia and hybrid-striped bass would be used as test-species before moving on to longer-term projects on catfish, shrimp and other saltwater species.

The facility would be able to host up to a dozen major aquaculture studies annually.
