Live chicken prices in Brazil's Sao Paulo rebounds to a new high
Live chicken price in Brazil's wealthiest state, southeastern Sao Paulo, rose to 1.8 Brazilian reais ($0.85/0.64 euro) per kg in February 2007, up 80 percent on-year.
The price is a record figure for the country, a 2-percent increase over the previous record reached last October, according to agricultural news and analysis portal AviSite.
This was the third consecutive month prices had been increasing relative to the same month last year. However, the increases had to be seen in the light of poor prices in 2006, when prices were deeply slashed due to fear of bird flu disease.
Moreover, chicken prices have remained largely stable for the last three weeks of February.
