Canada eyes higher wheat, barley land
This year, Canadian farmers will be sowing more wheat, barley and rapeseed, as unplanted area due to unfavourable weather last year is expected to come back into production, said Jonathan Driedger, of FarmLink Marketing Solutions.
As of August 1, 2012, the end of the Canadian Wheat Board's single desk for marketing western Canadian wheat, durum, and barley has led to some discussions of possible shifts to planting intentions.
Driedger said any acreage adjustments would be due to rotational issues and what makes the most money, over anything political.
