Exporters report 285,000 tonnes US soy sale to China

A sale of 285,000 tonnes of US soy to China has been reported by private exporters and an optional origin sales of 120,000 tonnes of corn to Mexico, said the Agriculture Department on Wednesday (Feb 29).

The soy sale to China called for 175,000 tonnes for delivery this marketing year and 110,000 tonnes in 2012/13. The optional origin sale to Mexico, for 2012/13 delivery, means the corn can be US-grown or from other nations.

The marketing year for corn and soy opens each September 1.

By law, exporters must report promptly the sale of 100,000 tonnes or more of a commodity to the same destination in one day. Sales of smaller amounts are reported on a weekly basis.
