Sweden's January milk production up 1.4%
Swedish milk production rose by 1.4% in January 2012 as compared to the same period of last year and indicates that a growing market is to follow, according to a report from Svensk Mjölk.
Internationally, the milk market projects to be better in 2012 than it had been in 2011, with forecasts expecting a 2% global milk production increase. Developing countries are expected to contribute to the growth, while European countries will have to step up their export.
Even hard cheese production is showing a recent turnaround, as production increased by 8.8% in Sweden during Q4 2012. For the full year 2011, however, production decreased by 2.5%.
