Russia to boost grain exports to 28 million tonnes
Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik said at an agrarian forum in Ufa on Tuesday (Feb 28) that Russia will boost grain exports this year from 25 million to 28 million tonnes.
The country fully meets its domestic grain demand, she said. Sugar and vegetable oil exports will also increase. In addition, this year may see a significant rise in poultry and pork exports.
Domestic pork production has grown by about 40%, while poultry production has nearly doubled. Modernising the farming sector remains a top national priority, the minister said.
