China's Anhui reaps 378,000 tonnes of cotton for 2011
Eastern China's Anhui Province gathered 378,000 tonnes of cotton in the previous year, resulting in a 19.9% on-year increase, according to an official filing from the local government.
In the period the province's cotton plantation area totalled 350,400 hectares, up 6,000 hectares from 2010.
On the other hand, Jiangsu Province, located in the same region, produced 247,000 tonnes of cotton last year, 5.4% less than a year earlier, according to the local government.
In the period its cotton plantation area totalled 239,000 hectares, 4,000 hectares more than in 2010.
Moreover, Hebei Province in Northern China harvested 653,000 tonnes of cotton in 2011, up 14.7% from the previous year, according to the local statistics bureau.
During the same period its cotton plantation area totalled 633,000 hectares, 8.8% more than a year ago.
