Indonesia's aquafeed use shows sustained growth
Indonesia's aquaculture production revealed much growth as demands of aquaculture feed ingredients in 2011 continued to rise, said Denny Indradjaja, Chairman of Indonesian Feed Mills Association of its Aquaculture Division.
By observing the rate of economic growth, buying power and people consumption in 2011, Indradjaja believed that aquaculture feed consumption in Indonesia in 2012 will continue to grow.
He predicted that the growth of aquafeed consumption this year will reach about 12% or in total around 1.2 million tonnes.
But in order to sustain aquaculture production, Indradjaja invited stakeholders to find alternative ingredients to substitute fishmeal which is skyrocketing in price.
