India plans to set up five more mega food parks
India will set up five more mega food parks in addition to the existing 10 parks to provide adequate infrastructure to the country's food processing industry, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Friday (Feb 26).
Mega food parks are industrial estates with cold warehousing, grading centres and research laboratories and aim at linking farmers with the food processing industry.
India's food processing sector includes meat, poultry, milk and milk products, fisheries, plantations, grain processing and consumer products such as confectionery, chocolates and cocoa products.
