South Dakota red meat output down in January

 

 

Commercial red meat production for South Dakota totalled 74.9 million pounds during January, down 26% on-year.

 

January's production figure was down 6% from December's output, according to the Agriculture Department.

 

January pork production was down from a year ago, but sheep and lamb production was up.

 

Commercial hog slaughter in South Dakota totalled 337,800 head, compared to 466,300 head in January 2008.
