Bird flu threat remains across Russia

The threat of new bird flu outbreaks remains for all Russian regions, Nikolai Vlasov, a department director at the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight, said at a news conference Wednesday (Feb 28), news agency Prime-Tass reported.

Bird flu outbreaks among birds were registered in nine districts of the Moscow Region last week. No new outbreaks had been registered as of Wednesday, Valery Sitnikov, chief veterinary officer for the Moscow Region, said.
