Weak trend prevails in China vitamin C market

Vitamin C demand was slack during early February, with feed millers preparing for the celebration of Chinese New Year. Both vitamin C producers and feed millers halted production for the festive celebration during middle of the month, and resumed operation only recently. Hence, prices stayed flat throughout the month while trade remained light.

Prices of feed- and food-grade vitamin C remained unchanged in the range of RMB22-23/kg.

Excess supplies will continue to weigh on the prices of vitamin C. However, with aquaculture production recovering during March with the weather temperatures rising, feed millers will stockpile vitamin C inventories soon, hence lending support to the market.
