Russia exports almost 20 million tonnes grain

Since July last year, Russia has exported 19.8 million tonnes of grain, Russian Minister of Agriculture Yelena Skrynnik has told reporters in Moscow.

Last year's grain harvest made up 94 million tonnes, which makes it possible to meet the country's domestic needs and sell up to 25 million tonnes of grain abroad.

Skrynnik added that purchasing interventions on the grain market will continue as long as there is need for removing grain surpluses from the market. According to forecasts, Russian grain exports will increase to 40 million tonnes by 2020.
