China soy imports up 44 percent on-year in January
China's soybean imports in January rose 44 percent on-year to 2.43 million tonnes, the General Administration of Customs said Wednesday.
China is the world's biggest importer of soybeans and gets most of its supplies from the US, Brazil and Argentina.
In January, the country also imported 189,206 tonnes of soyoil, up 21 percent on- year, 387,487 tonnes of palm oil, down 40 percent, and 17,103 tonnes of wheat, down 62 percent.
Corn exports in January more than doubled on-year to 937,538 tonnes.
