Black Sea region exports 32.3 million tonnes of grain
Grain exports from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan have reached 32.3 million tonnes so far in the 2008-0 season, agriculture consultancy UkrAgroConsult said Thursday (Feb 26).
Russia had exported 13.8 million tonnes of grain so far, including 12.2 million tonnes of wheat and 1.613 million tonnes of barley.
Ukraine exported a total of 15.2 million tonnes of grain, including 7.79 million tonnes of wheat, 5.1 million tonnes of barley and 2.242 million tonnes of corn.
Kazakhstan had exported only wheat and wheat flour this season, UkrAgroConsult said.
UkrAgroConsult also said the three countries, which are the Black Sea region's top exporters, had exported 2.148 million tonnes of grain in the first 20 days of February.
Russia shipped 763,000 tonnes of grain in February, including 698,000 tonnes of wheat and 65,000 tonnes of barley. Ukraine exported 1.1 million tonnes of grain, while Kazakhstan shipped 285,000 tonnes.
