Kazakhstan is forecast to export 5.8 million tonnes of grain in the 2008-09 marketing year, having already exported 3 million tonnes in the first five months, the Grain Union of Kazakhstan said Thursday (February 26).

The average monthly export of about 400,000 tonnes would result in the total exports of 2.8 million tonnes of grain in the remaining seven months of the marketing year, which began in September, the union said.

In the 2007-2008 marketing year Kazakhstan exported over 8 million tonnes of wheat and wheat flour.
