Foot-and-mouth disease strikes another province in Vietnam

Foot-and-mouth disease continues to plague in Vietnam as it hit livestock animals in the central highlands, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The disease broke out in the province's Krong Nang district from February 16 to 22, affecting 126 pigs and 31 bulls, said the Department of Animal Health, MARD's attached agency.

The provincial Veterinary Bureau has disinfected affected farms, and vaccinated cattle against the disease in the district.

The disease has already hit 24 communities in eight provinces, namely Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai and Thai Nguyen in the north, and Phu Yen, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum and Dac Lac in the central region, said the department.
