Singapore and Vietnam cooperate on seafood export opportunities
Singaporean Ambassador in Vietnam Ng Teck Hean met with representatives from Ben Tre province to seek investment and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.
Singapore will cooperate with Vietnam through training Vietnamese workforce and importing agro-fishery products. Vietnamese trainees will be trained in Hanoi or Singapore, reports Vietnam Association of Seafoods Export Processors (VASEP).
Singapore is in high demand for agro-fishery products. The Singaporean importer spends US$500,000 on importing seafood from Ben Tre province.
Ben Tre has many advantages in producing agro-fishery products. Thus, the province is calling investments from Singaporean enterprises so that local fishery products can be exported to third-party countries, the Ben Tre People's Committee Chairman said.
The province will give favourable conditions to facilitate Singaporean investors in importing local agro-fishery products and investing in many other sectors such as high-tech industrial park and ecological tourism in Ben Tre.
Ng Teck Hean welcomes that Ben Tre's authorities plan to organise a conference aiming to call investments into Ben Tre in Singapore in 2014. Ng Teck Hean will actively introduce the potentialities and advantages of Ben Tre to Singaporean investors.
