US sees 5% rise in frozen poultry during Jan 2013

 

 

According to a USDA report, frozen poultry supplies have risen 5% by the end of January 2013, a 12% increase from a year ago.

 

Total poultry stocks of chicken were down 3% from the previous month but up 8% from last year. Total pounds of turkey in freezers were up 22% both from last month and from January 31, 2012.

 

Total red meat supplies in freezers were up 7% from the previous month and up 2% from last year. Total pounds of beef in freezers were up 4% from the previous month but down slightly from last year.

 

Frozen pork supplies were up 10% from the previous month and up 3% from last year. Stocks of pork bellies were up 1% from last month but down 32% from last year.
