China's animal husbandry sector to get a new lift in 2009
China will spare no effort to boost development of its animal husbandry sector, secure product safety and improve its profitability this year, said the Ministry of Agriculture.
The country will try to spur development of its dairy industry by subsidising milk purchasing stations for their acquisition of mechanical milking equipment. Authorities will also enhance their supervision over the quality of milk bought by the stations. More standardized milk purchasing stations will also be built.
In addition, the quality control of feedstuff and cultivation of livestock will be enhanced to secure quality safety of poultry products.
China will support the development of businesses of live hog, dairy and poultry. Moreover, poultry producers will be encouraged to cultivate better varieties of animals.
Furthermore, the country will enhance protection and construction of grasslands to ensure its biological safety. It will also hasten the formulation of related regulations and industrial standards for the industry's long-term development as well as promoting the application of technology and alerting the poultry production for disease outbreaks.
