ABB Grain loads Australia's biggest oilseed cargo for Toepfer

Logistics provider ABB Grain Ltd. reported that it's loading a monster 63,000 tonnes cargo of canola, believed to be Australia's largest ever single shipment of the oilseed, bound for Rotterdam for global agricultural trader Toepfer.

Loading of the Cypriot-flagged Stalo began Tuesday (February 25) night at ABB Grain's Port Lincoln export terminal in South Australia and will continue until Saturday, when the vessel sets sail.

ABB Grains executive manager operations, John Warda, said the logistics of transporting the huge volume of canola from across the Eyre Peninsula into the port presented quite a challenge, including more than 600 road-train loads and 120 rail wagons.

Since the start of the new season grain and oilseeds export program in November, ABB Grain's South Australian terminals have shipped just on 1.0 million tonnes on its own behalf and for clients, he said in a brief statement.

The canola is scheduled to arrive in Rotterdam in the first week in April, he said.
