Turkey poultry prices to remain stable

Poultry prices in Turkey will not be influenced by a recent request by Russia to increase Turkish poultry imports to 500,000 tonnes annually.

Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Mehdi Eker said export-oriented production is different from supplying the domestic market. He also stressed that companies in the Turkish poultry sector are capable of meeting the rising Russian demand in a short period of time.

Therefore, Russian demand for Turkish poultry will not affect domestic prices, and the impact on the agriculture sector will be positive, said the minister.

The current number of cattle being fattened is enough to meet Turkey's demand and the higher meat prices will return to normal levels without the need to import, said Eker.
