China new soy supply to reach 54.5 million tonnes in 2008-09
                    


China's fresh supply of soy is forecasted to reach 54.5 million tonnes in the crop year of 2008-09 which includes 16.5 million tonnes of domestic soy and 38 million tonnes of imports.

 

The country's soyoil consumption is projected to hit 39 million tonnes in this crop year, an on-year increase of 1.1 million tonnes, of which 2.5 million tonnes were crushed from the domestic soy and 36.5 million tonnes from the imported soy.

 

In the crop year of 2007-08, the new soy supply reached 50.54 million tonnes, including 12.73 million tonnes of domestic soy and 37.82 million tonnes of imports. The year 2007-08 also saw an on-year increase of 3.2 million tonnes of soy oil consumption to 37.9 million tonnes in the country.
