US wheat export to decline 21 percent for 2008-09

 

 

US wheat exports are seen at 950 million bushels, a decline of 21 percent  from last year.

 

"Export competition is expected to be intense once harvest in underway in competing countries," according to grains and oilseeds outlook Friday at the annual Agricultural Outlook Forum.

 

US 2008-09 wheat planted area is estimated at 64 million acres and production is seen at 2.33 billion bushels.

 

The USDA said wheat yields this year are seen around 42.8 bushels per acre.

 

Ending stocks for 2008-09 are seen at 538 million bushels.
