Vietnam's January seafood exports down 16.5%
 

 

Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the country's seafood exports in January earned US$363 million down 16.5% from the same period last year and accounting for 62.5% of that in December 2011.

 

The Vietnamese seafood shipments in January reduced in nearly all markets. Its seafood revenues from the US dropped 41.9% from the previous month and 18.9% on year to US$68.06 million while the revenues from Japan also sow the same trend to US$63.82 million with fall of 40% and 6.74%, respectively.

 

Vietnamese seafood revenues from other major markets decreased between 30% and 40% in January. The country earned US$32.98 million from South Korea, US$13.18 million from China, US$11.96 million from Germany, and US$10.42 million from Canada.

 

In exception, Vietnamese seafood export revenues rose 165% to US$520,000 from India and 154.55% to US$220,000 from Iraq.
