Finland's 2011 turkey meat production reaches 7.9 million kilogrammes
A total of 7.9 million kilogrammes of turkey meat was produced in Finland in 2011, according to Gallup Food and Farm Facts.
In the peak year 2004, production was about 15 million kilogrammes. In 2012, production is expected to rise to 8.5 million kilogrammes. Turkey consumption increased by 3% in 2011 and growth is expected to continue.
Imports account for 31% of all the turkey eaten in Finland. Turkey meat is imported from the Netherlands, Poland, and Germany, among others.
Turkey products are mainly imported from Brazil and Germany. Turkey exports from Finland totalled two million kilogrammes in 2011. Export countries included Estonia.
